Development Masterplan

An overall Parklands ‘Design Code’ developed as a resolution of conditions attached to outline planning approvals for this site on the outskirts of Weston-super-Mare.

Amongst the conditions were:

• How ‘Route Typologies’ including the different road hierarchy, footpaths, shared foot / cycle paths and development along side these routes will be designed and treated to create a distinct and legible development;

• How different ‘Character Areas’ or neighbourhoods will be created;

• How the Green Infrastructure will be designed to create a hierarchy and connection between green spaces.

Consideration of these issues has been carried out in the form of a series of development sketches which show the intention for the overall ‘principles and approach’ to each area.

In due course, each area covered in the application will be the subject of its own application for ‘the discharge of reserved matters’ and the designers of each area / element will provide the specific details for each site. However the design for each site should work within the parameters set by this Design Code to ensure that the future Grumblepill area will become a coherent and harmonious whole.
